Great Barrier & Great Mercury Islands, New Zealand | sailing Expedition

9 Nights | 200nm | join the crew | from NZD$5,950

Departing from Gulf Harbour Marina, this 9-night sailing expedition offers an unforgettable journey through some of the most remote and breathtaking parts of New Zealand’s Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. With a flexible itinerary shaped by weather and sea conditions, we’ll explore the outer reaches of the Gulf—including Great Barrier Island, Little Barrier Island, and Great Mercury Island—each offering their own unique blend of wild beauty, rich biodiversity, and peaceful seclusion.

We begin by sailing past the dramatic cliffs of Little Barrier Island, a protected sanctuary rarely visited by most. From there, we set course for a full circumnavigation of Great Barrier Island, anchoring in a range of stunning bays perfect for paddle boarding, snorkelling, or simply soaking up the scenery. Onshore, explore white sand beaches, natural hot springs, bush-clad trails, and even a canyon walk that winds through ancient rock formations.

The voyage continues to Great Mercury Island, where the white sands and turquoise waters offer another chance to unwind and reconnect with nature. These islands are rich in birdlife, marine life, and moments of tranquillity that can only be found off the beaten track.

Each night, we’ll anchor in a new location, enjoying barbeques, fresh seafood, and hearty dinners on board. Sunset drinks on deck, starlit skies, and the gentle rocking of the boat make for a truly restorative experience. This sailing expedition is ideal for those looking to unplug, explore, and experience the raw beauty of New Zealand’s coastal wilderness.
